Archaeology in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius

If you like ancient history and archaeology, in Campania you are spoilt for choice. I will guide you to the discovery of ancient Pompeii, or rather Herculaneum, Oplontis and Stabia. In Pompeii we will visit rich houses, workshops, thermal baths and the forum, without missing the famous plaster casts and the brothel, to appreciate all aspects of daily life in Roman times. Herculaneum will amaze you for its organic wooden finds, still intact today, as well as for its aristocratic houses embellished with frescoes and mosaics. At Oplontis we will visit the luxurious villa of Poppea, Emperor Nero’s second wife, with its gardens, arcades, baths and the Olympic swimming pool. Castellammare di Stabia is famous for two otium villas built on the hill by the Roman nobility, Villa Arianna and Villa San Marco, unique in their kind for the high quality of the decorations.
