Castel di Poggio, an unforgettable experience

Through the mists and scents of autumn, Castel di Poggio appeared before me, surrounded by woods just 20 minutes from Florence. A powerful settlement dating back to the Middle Ages, the original castle was destroyed in 1348 by the Florentine Signoria, leaving only the tower. It was rebuilt in 1469 by the Alessandri family in Renaissance style, but the current structure dates back to a late 19th-century reconstruction, commissioned by the Forteguerri family and built in neo-medieval style by architect Giuseppe Castellucci. The warm welcome of Catalin and Edy immersed me in a fairytale-like interior, with live music accompanying the dinner. I wonder what it will be like in spring and other seasons if it's so magical in November. It's an ideal location for weddings, tastings, and cultural events, or for an unforgettable day trip out of town.
